Sundera: World in Chains / Change

[edit]

Sundera
World in Chains / Change
Themes: Solarpunk and lunarpunk duality, ecological ethics, utopia under pressure
Relation: One of the Broken Worlds (Probala) within ALLKREA
Core conflict: Humanity’s artificial balance between day and night begins to unravel

Overview

[edit]

Sundera exists in the far future of Earth after its rotation was deliberately halted. One hemisphere forever faces the Sun—radiant, solar, thriving. The other lies in eternal night—cold, moonlit, reflective. Mass migrations and geoengineering allowed humanity to survive in the thin habitable band between, where towering solarpunk megacities promised peace, equality, and sustainability. But generations later, perfection fractures.

Core Lore

[edit]

The project to stop Earth’s spin was called **Operation Equinox**, conceived by Extropian scientists [PLACEHOLDER]. Its intent: freeze the planet’s rotation to stabilize solar energy collection and reverse climate collapse. It succeeded—at first. The “Sunward Nations” built glass citadels powered by endless daylight, while the “Lunarch Enclaves” adapted to perpetual night through bioluminescent ecosystems. The utopian Compact City of **Solara** became humanity’s pride. Yet centuries of selective population control, resource imbalance, and social stratification have turned that pride into guilt. Those who question the old order are exiled to the darkside ruins or sent on “pilgrimages” that few survive.

A new resistance movement, **The Chained Dawn**, seeks the ancient Hawaiian facility that once rotated the planet. They plan to restart it, restoring day and night—even if it ends the world. [PLACEHOLDER]
